Pediatric Dentist Dr. Maria Aganon-Fu - Meet Dr. Maria

Dr. Maria Aganon-Fu is affectionately known as "Dr. Maria" to her patients. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. She completed three years of advanced specialty training in hospital-based pediatric dentistry at the University of California at San Francisco and Oakland Children's Hospital. Dr. Maria enjoys her 20th year of a successful private practice in the Bay Area. Dr. Maria is a board certified pediatric dentist with Diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She holds medical staff privileges at EI Camino Hospital, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente and at the Cranio-Facial Anomaly clinic at Stanford Children's Hospital.

As a dedicated member of the craniofacial team at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Dr. Maria Fu volunteers her time in providing comprehensive in-hospital dental treatment under general anesthesia for the underprivileged children with cranio-facial anomalies and those with special medical needs. Dr. Maria Fu has also served as an international volunteer dentist in Russia and China.

When away from work, Dr. Maria Fu enjoys traveling with her husband, Dr.Leonard Fu and with her two lovely daughters. She also truly enjoys the ever loyal company of her Shih-tzu puppy named Oreo. She finds delight in reading, baking, and doing crafts. Dr. Maria Fu finds inspiration in many of her favorite books, including The Bible, Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love, Pasternak’s Dr. Zhivago and Gladwell’s Outliers.

Dr. Sarita Wang is a second-generation pediatric dentist who has enjoyed following in the footsteps of her mother, Dr. Maria Aganon-Fu. After graduating cum laude with a B.A. degree in biochemistry and visual arts from Bowdoin College, Dr. Wang earned a four-year dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She continued an additional two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry through the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. She honed her skills by working with children of all ages and backgrounds especially those with special needs and complex medical conditions. Her rigorous hospital training has prepared her very well for treating children with extensive dental needs using different treatment modalities including general anesthesia.

Dr. Wang is a board certified pediatric dentist with Diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. This distinction is awarded to a small percentage of pediatric dentists in the U.S. whose knowledge of pediatric dentistry and medicine has undergone rigorous examination and scrutiny by the Board. Dr. Wang also holds medical staff privileges at the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Wang’s passion for pediatrics was sparked by her experience working as a Bridging the Gaps Community Health Intern at the Philadelphia Children’s Crisis Center. There she cared for and educated at-risk children who were coping with family violence, abandonment, and abuse. With her career in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Wang strives to improve the well-being of the children in her community with lessons not only in oral health but also life lessons they may take with them into the future.

In her spare time, Dr. Wang loves to do crafts at home, read new and interesting books, and she loves to bake cupcakes and other goodies. But her favorite thing to do is to spend quality time with her family, especially with her one and a half year old niece, Emma.

It is a privilege that we do not take lightly and therefore we are committed in providing the most skilled and comprehensive dental care for infants, children, adolescents and special needs patients. We strive to accomplish this through sincere, warm and caring attitude, clear communication and clinical excellence.

We believe that each child is unique. Therefore treatment options are customized based on the patient’s age, behavior, personality and previous dental experience. Our patient’s emotional and physical well-being is our number one priority so we will strive each day to make their visits safe and positive as well as fun. We will help your child through anxiety with genuine compassion, gentleness and sensitivity to your child’s specific needs.

You and your child are vital members of our team. Your participation in your child’s oral health is strongly encouraged as well as sharing your questions and concerns with us. We know that we have your unspoken trust in us to be “the best we can be” and with that expectation we will strive to fulfill. We understand that communication is vital to a good professional relationship so we will be clear in our communication regarding treatment, finances and education.

Our Staff

Janet Garcia – Schedule Coordinator
I have worked for Dr. Maria for 11 years. My family is from Mexico, and I often hear greetings of those who walk in the door in Spanish. If you ask our long time patients they will say that I am an irreplaceable fixture in the office. Although I have a degree in international business, I enjoy our patients and parents so much I can’t imagine working anywhere else. I love spending time with my family and watching my daughter, Nathaly, grow up.

Joan Ngo – Registered Dental Hygienist

Godfrey Montero, – – Registered Dental Assistant
I have been a Registered Dental Assistant since 1998 but working in Pediatric Dentistry for 8+ yrs. I just love creating a bond between my patient and their family member. My philosophy is patient is always first and everything revolves around them. It's just been a blessing that I finally found my new found family with Dr. Maria. Personally I am a huge Golden State Warriors fan and San Francisco Giants/49'er fan so basically you can ask me anything about those team. On my spare time I like to play basketball and ride road bikes with my buddies. I also like spending time with my family especially watching my 2 kids grow up.

Amber Hawarth, – – Registered Dental Assistant
I earned my RDA license in 2009 and have been in pediatric dentistry for almost 5 years. I love working with children- their innocence, laughter and smiles make my job extremely enjoyable. I made the realization my potential in life is to work with & help children when I became a swim instructor at 16 yrs old. The bond made with children & the positive influence I am able to have makes for a very rewarding end of the day. In fact, I still coach & teach on weekends!
I also love to read, spend time with my chi-weenie, "Mola," hike, & bake!
